The magazine staff did a little internal crowdsourcing and came up with a list of fun things to do before summer ends. Here goes:

  • Get sand between your toes.
  • Toast marshmallows. Who doesn’t love s’mores?
  • Watch a meteor shower. The Perseids meteor shower peaks the night of August 12 and early morning August 13 (www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/meteor-shower/perseid.html).
  • Visit a state or national park.
  • Take a hike.
  • Spend an afternoon outside with a book you keep meaning to read.
  • Enjoy a summer concert or festival.
  • Dine with old friends.
  • Spend a day on the water. Rent a kayak or aqua cycle.
  • Visit a farmers market, then make a meal with seasonal fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat ice cream. Or make homemade ice cream and go wild with the flavors.
  • Head to a minor league ballgame.
  • Take a road trip and visit someplace new.
  • Go to a drive-in movie.
  • Grill something weird. Did you know grilled salad is a thing (do a web search)?
  • Play a new-to-you golf course (this one comes courtesy of your magazine editor).
  • Buy that hammock you have dreamed of, slip in and enjoy a nap under the sun.
  • Find a new summer hobby (it’s not too late). Paddle boarding, anyone?
  • Enjoy the bounty of your garden.
  • Surprise a neighbor with homemade popsicles or lemonade.
  • Have a picnic.
